So I did my booking from bookingdotcom on 17th of June, for two persons. I saw that the check-in time in from 02:00 PM, which was more or less seemed to be how it is in Petersburg. But since my train was to arrive at 7 in the morning I put a request to the hostel, through bookingdotcom for an early check-in at 9:00 AM, on the same day. The request after an hour or so was approved by the hostel without any charge (I attached the pic of the same. All seemed fine, till we reached the hostel, the rest follows: 1.So after a short bus ride from the Ladozhsky railway station (Ла́дожский вокза́л), 2.We reached the location, of the hostel at around 8:00 AM. The location seemed decent. After taking a left, away from the main road, through an arch, the location is calm and clean.3.Next comes the finding the hostel, the number given on Google, and the one written on the door of the hostel itself, are different and one of them don’t even work while the other one was never answered.4.The name of the hostel itself seemed little confusing since it’s written as “Hotel Book”, rather than what it is mentioned on bookingdotcom as “art hostel book”5.Anyway after unable to connect the hostel on phone, we managed to finally open up the main entrance door and knock on the door of the Hostel, and here the trouble begins.6.The reception room was dark, and the host, whose name I couldn’t ask in the ensuing commotion but I remember she was a young lady with dark glasses, was clearly pissed off at the early arrivals. She told us that it’s too early and the check-in time is 02:00 PM. When I said her that I, being aware of this have already put in a check-in time for 9:00 AM, she got even more pissed off and started lecturing us (me and my girlfriend) about how this is common sense that all check-ins happen after 2:00 PM. She completely denied getting the early check-in approval and went on.She said that this how it is in “America”, and everyone knows it. Just to clarify I was still now in St. Petersburg, Russia.Needless to say her attitude made us look for other options, and in a quick search we found “hostelbabushka” nearby. Even though we ended up paying little bit more because of the last minute booking. The later was quite professional, cordial and had a welcoming atmosphere.NOTE: most of the conversation in the sixth point took place between my girlfriend, who is a native speaker of Russian, and the host lady, with dark glasses, in the dark room.
